Your PM Routine: Step by Step, Product by Product

Your PM routine is when the real work happens. Cell renewal is faster at night. Skin is more permeable. And without needing to defend against environmental exposure, you can use your most targeted ingredients when they'll have the most impact.

The night routine is where most people underinvest — and where most of the transformation actually happens.

Step 1 — Cleanse: double cleanse on heavy SPF or makeup days

PM cleansing is the most important step of the night — the rest of the routine only works if the skin is genuinely clean. On days when you've worn SPF or makeup: double cleanse. Revive Cleanser first to dissolve oil-based residue (SPF, sebum, cosmetics). Follow with Clarify or Brighten as the second water-based cleanse that removes what's left. On bare-skin days a single cleanse with any of the three is sufficient.

Step 2 — Prep: same as your AM

Aura, Balance, or Milky Drops — whichever fits your skin's needs that evening. On nights after cleansing with a strong second cleanser, Milky Drops is particularly useful for its barrier-restoring properties before actives.

Step 3 — Treat: your PM actives

This is where the PM routine diverges most from the AM. Bounce Serum: AM and PM — your consistent copper peptide treatment. Glycolic Peel Pads: PM only, 1–2x per week, replace your serum on these nights. Dream Crème: PM only, start 2–3 nights per week. THE RULE: Never use Glycolic Peel Pads and Dream Crème on the same night. On Peel Pad nights, skip Dream Crème. On Dream Crème nights, skip Peel Pads. This is non-negotiable.

Step 4 — Moisturize: the repair layer

Dew Crème: all skin types, especially dry or barrier-compromised. Meaga Benefits: brightening-focused PM moisture. Dream Crème: can function as both treatment serum and moisturizer on retinoid nights — you don't necessarily need a second moisturizer layer on top of it.

Step 5 — Seal: Marula Oil

The final step every PM. One to two drops over your moisturizer. The occlusive seal that keeps overnight moisture loss to a minimum and supports the lit-from-within glow in the morning. Non-comedogenic and suitable for all skin types.

The PM conflict cheat sheet

Glycolic Peel Pads + Dream Crème: NEVER same night. C.E. Glow: AM only (or alternate mornings). Nova: AM only. Dream Crème: PM only. On recovery nights (within a skin cycling structure): Milky Drops + Bounce + Dew Crème + Marula Oil — no exfoliants or retinoids.

Glow Note: The best PM routine for most people isn't the most complex one. Consistent gentle cleansing, barrier support, one targeted active, and Marula Oil as the seal will outperform ten inconsistently used products.

PM Routine +

Your evening routine is when skin does its most important work. Cell turnover accelerates at night. Skin is more permeable, allowing actives to penetrate more deeply. And without needing to defend against UV and environmental exposure, you can focus entirely on repair, renewal, and deep hydration. The Meaga Glow PM routine follows five steps: Step 1 — Cleanse: Remove SPF, makeup, and the day's buildup before anything else. Double cleansing — starting with Revive to dissolve oil-based impurities, then following with Clarify or Brighten — is ideal for PM cleansing, especially if you wear SPF or makeup daily. Step 2 — Prep: Same as the AM routine. Aura, Balance, or Milky Drops. Step 3 — Treat: PM is the time for your most potent actives. Bounce Serum (copper peptides) works AM and PM. Glycolic Peel Pads are PM only — use 1–2x per week in place of a serum. Dream Crème contains HPR (a gentle retinoid) and is PM only. Step 4 — Moisturize: Dew Crème, Meaga Benefits, or Dream Crème as a combined treatment-moisturizer. Step 5 — Seal: Marula Oil is the final step. One to two drops over your moisturizer reduces overnight moisture loss and supports the lit-from-within glow by morning. Notes on PM-only actives: Nova Vitamin C is not included in the PM routine. Dream Crème (HPR) should not be used in the same routine as Glycolic Peel Pads or C.E. Glow. On nights when you use Peel Pads, skip Dream Crème.

Double Cleansing +

Double cleansing is a PM cleansing method that uses two different cleanser types in sequence. The logic behind it is simple: oil and water don't mix. A water-based cleanser alone — no matter how thorough — cannot fully dissolve oil-based substances like SPF filters, sebum, and silicone-based makeup. If those residues are still on the skin before you apply your actives and serums, they form a physical barrier that reduces absorption and can contribute to congestion over time. Step 1 — First Cleanse (Oil-Based): Use a gentle, oil-compatible or milky formula to dissolve oil-based buildup. In the Meaga Glow routine, Revive Cleanser is ideal as a first cleanse — its botanical oil blend and creamy formula lift SPF and makeup gently without stripping. Step 2 — Second Cleanse (Water-Based): Follow with a water-based cleanser that actually cleans the skin. Choose Clarify (acne/congested), Brighten (brightening/exfoliating), or use Balance Toner as a cleansing second step. Double cleansing is most valuable in the evening, particularly on days when you've worn SPF and/or makeup. A single cleanse is sufficient for most mornings.

Skin Cycling +

Skin cycling is a structured approach to using potent actives — like exfoliants and retinoids — without pushing the skin into irritation. The core concept is simple: instead of using all your actives every night, you rotate them across a repeating cycle, with dedicated recovery nights where you focus only on hydration and barrier support. A classic skin cycling structure is a 4-night cycle: Night 1 — Exfoliation: Use your exfoliant (like Glycolic Peel Pads). No other actives this night. Night 2 — Retinoid: Use Dream Crème. No exfoliants the same night. Night 3 — Recovery: Skip actives entirely. Cleanse, prep with Milky Drops, moisturize with Dew Crème, seal with Marula Oil. Night 4 — Recovery: Same as Night 3. Let the barrier recover fully before restarting the cycle. This approach is particularly well-suited for skin that is sensitive, reactive, or just starting to incorporate stronger actives. It allows the barrier to rebuild between active nights, which reduces cumulative irritation and makes the actives more sustainable long-term. Over time, many people extend or compress the cycle based on how their skin responds.

Layering Skincare +

Layering skincare correctly is one of the most practical things you can do to improve how well your routine works. The general principle: apply products from thinnest to thickest, and from water-based to oil-based. This allows lightweight actives — like essences, serums, and treatment formulas — to penetrate the skin before heavier moisturizers or oils create a barrier on top. The Meaga Glow layering order follows six clear steps: (1) Cleanse, (2) Prep — toner or essence, (3) Treat — serum or active, (4) Moisturize, (5) SPF in the morning, (6) Seal — facial oil as the final step at night. Following this order consistently is what allows each product to do its best work — and what makes the difference between a routine that works and one that just sits on the skin.

Occlusives +

Occlusives are the sealing step in a hydration routine. They work by forming a light physical barrier on the skin's surface that helps slow the evaporation of water out of the skin — a process called transepidermal water loss (TEWL). By reducing TEWL, occlusives help moisture stay in the skin longer and give hydrating ingredients time to work. Common occlusive ingredients include petrolatum, beeswax, shea butter, and plant oils — including marula, jojoba, and other facial oils. In the moisture hierarchy of a skincare routine, occlusives sit last: humectants attract water, emollients soften and fill gaps, and occlusives seal the whole system in place. In the Meaga Glow routine, Marula Oil is the primary occlusive step — applied as the final layer (Step 6: Seal) at night to lock in everything beneath it. This is why the Routine Builder places it last. Even a single drop of a well-formulated facial oil at night can meaningfully change how your skin looks in the morning by reducing overnight moisture loss.

Active Ingredients +

Not every ingredient in a skincare product is there to solve a specific problem. Many ingredients serve important but supporting roles — helping with texture, stability, pH, or feel. Active ingredients are the ones doing the targeted clinical work: improving a concern, supporting a specific skin function, or delivering a measurable result. Common categories of actives include: exfoliants (glycolic acid, salicylic acid, lactic acid, papaya enzymes), antioxidants (Vitamin C, Vitamin E, ferulic acid), brighteners (niacinamide, Vitamin C, licorice root), barrier actives (ceramides, ectoin, panthenol), anti-aging actives (retinoids, copper peptides, peptides), and UV filters (zinc oxide). Knowing which actives are in your routine helps you layer them correctly, avoid combinations that can cause irritation (like glycolic acid with retinol in the same step), and understand what you're actually working toward. In the Meaga Glow routine, actives sit primarily at the Prep and Treat steps — essences and serums are where the most concentrated active work happens.
