No — Marula Oil is non-comedogenic, meaning it won't clog pores. It's actually rich in Linoleic Acid (Omega-6), which is one of the fatty acids that acne-prone skin tends to be deficient in. Many people with oily and acne-prone skin find that Marula Oil calms breakouts and reduces inflammation rather than causing them. Start with 1 drop and see how your skin responds.

Can I use it if I have oily or acne-prone skin?

Yes — and it might help more than you'd expect. Oily skin often overproduces sebum partly because the skin is dehydrated and lacking in the fatty acids it needs. Supplying those fatty acids via a non-comedogenic oil like Marula can actually help balance oil production over time. Start with a small amount (1 drop) at night, see how your skin responds, and build from there.

What's the difference between using Marula Oil before vs. after moisturizer?

Always after. Oils sit on top of water-based products and create an occlusive seal, which means if you apply oil before a water-based moisturizer or serum, those products can't penetrate through the oil layer. Applied after moisturizer, Marula Oil seals everything underneath in — exactly where you want it. The layering order is: essence → serum → moisturizer → oil → SPF (AM) or oil → sleep (PM).

Is Marula Oil anti-aging?

Yes — through multiple mechanisms. The antioxidant-rich profile (Vitamins C and E, polyphenols) neutralizes the free radical damage that accelerates skin aging. The fatty acid content supports the skin barrier, which degrades with age. And the emollient properties visibly plump and soften, reducing the appearance of fine lines.
